Nobody from the town of Milton, Nebraska ever gave much thought to Bobbie before the tragedy in the cornfield. Two years later, it's hard for them to think of much else. In the darkly comic Bobbie Clearly, a community opens up about life in the aftermath and making sense of senseless violence.

WINNER: Best New Play, Joseph Jefferson Awards 2017

"RECOMMENDED... staged with great overall intensity and some blistering individual performances... very skillfully directed by Josh Sobel... exceptionally interesting and moving to watch... There are a few moments in "Bobbie Clearly," those that really zone in on the intersection of anger and pain, that are as good as any play you can see right now, anywhere in town."

     -Chicago Tribune

"HIGHLY RECOMMENDED... Perspective shifts with such smoothness that it becomes invisible. Director Josh Sobel’s vision is clear-eyed, confident and unpretentious. He gracefully follows the guide of his thoughtful source material to dramatically understated yet haunting results... Lubischer’s world premiere is remarkable, one of the first great new works of this nascent season... “Bobbie Clearly” is like “It’s A Wonderful Life” inverted, all its lessons about goodness and charity distorted and made oblique. And yet, while it doesn’t paint a rosy picture of small-town life, neither does it square with dire straits. Instead, it tenderly embraces the gradient between forgiveness and grievance, the shades that color all of our relationships."

     -Newcity Stage

"HIGHLY RECOMMENDED... the entire cast shimmers with sensitivity to the people they bring to life... Perhaps it’s the touch of Director Josh Sobel , but one suspects he just unleashed the cast “talent show”... Go to Steep’s production of “Bobbie Clearly” knowing that the story will likely linger in your heart and mind."
